"Group of 5, we stayed for 4 days. We like the feeling of the village and the beautiful colours of the flowers. You need to write down the timetables of the "boats" more clearly! Nobody can understand the way it is and nobody answer the people's questions, because they are tired!! Also you have to create luggage storages near ferries. The tourist office can't open at 10am and close at 5.30pm it need to be open until 8pm at least. Thank you"

"Varenna is a beautiful Lake Como village with great restaurants and friendly people and a few nice shops. Al Prato was our favorite! Reservations required. A wonderful little grocery store and cheese store near the church was handy and had a great supply of food for us to cook a few meals at our apartment. Walking around town can be challenging with the inclines and pebble stone pavements but that’s what makes the area so unique and beautiful! We had bad luck on our day of departure getting transportation to pick us up with our luggage in San Giorgio Piazza at the church. Three Ubers canceled on us and we had to walk to train station with our luggage to make our connection. Taxis are probably more dependable. The ferries were great and fast transporting us to Tremezzo and Belagio. The village is clean but our place neglected to clean our terrace which we mopped upon arrival. Overall, I recommend Varenna for a beautiful holiday! "

"Public taxis in Varenna is a nightmare. Despite calling over 10 taxi numbers no one would be ready to pick up or drop us. "

"We have been coming to Varenna for the month of May every year (except for the Covid exclusion) since 2012. During that time we have seen the beautiful village turn into a total tourist trap with overpriced food and drinks, endless queues, stressed locals and venue staff, traffic chaos and an almost complete loss of authenticity and local flavour. Our hearts go out to the few remaining locals who have to put up with the tourist hoards - many or most of who contribute very little of value to the town, are very rude and inconsiderate and who have no real respect for Italian culture. The number of apartments that are now holiday homes mean that local Italians can no longer afford to live in Varenna and this is a tragedy and just morally wrong - shame on the town council for letting all this happen. You should be looking after your citizens first rather than the tourists! Sadly we will not return to Varenna."

"Bad restaurants and they closed very early, few and bad options for dinner. "
